A New Year & Fresh Start

I thought a fitting first entry for 2024 would be a quick note to share my intentions for the year. For myself personally, my work, and for ‘TobysHome’. A year that for me, will be dedicated to self-growth and acceptance. Phrases I feel are often ‘thrown around’, but nonetheless, feel incredibly relevant right now.

I’ve not been shy in sharing my journey over the past 12 months, and before, and so won’t recap on everything that has been happening (though there are several videos relating to this that can be found on my YouTube channel). But, I knew last summer that something drastically needed to change in my life last year, which thankfully it has. ‘Fixing’ or turning away from damaging relationships, re-introducing exercise, a healthy diet and better work-life balance. This year, I want to continue to progress across all of these areas but have 3 core goals that I’d like to achieve by the end of the year, which I’d like to share here as a reference for myself to refer back to.

1.     More consistent work

I mean this in more ways than one – firstly, a more consistent working routine with better defined hours to work and have time off. Secondly, I would like to more consistently dedicate time and energy to achieve long term goals, rather than giving up or changing strategy at the first hurdle. I think this can be applied to lots of working situations, for lots of people, but for me, applies across design work, social media and other projects, too.

2.     Practicing calmness in all areas of life

A simple reminder that I want to take a deep breath and approach work and personal matters with a calm, level mind. And not make too quick decisions

3.     Self Improvement

It feels somehow arrogant to say that more and more I am becoming proud and happy of the person I am, but I don’t want to stop there. I want to work on my physical fitness this year, as well as putting more energy into other areas of self-care, too.

And as for what you’ll find at TobysHome this year. There are lots of big things happening (watch this space…), but with an underlying sense of calm and cosy. Simple styling and design advice, wholesome recipes, luxury recommendations and thoughtful notes like this one. I really hope you’ll be here and sign up to my newsletter below.

 Thank you for being here,

Toby
